PSYCHOLOGICAL PHENOMENON ON UKRAINIAN MASS
ACTIONS DURING THE PRESIDENT ELECTION 2004

Ukrainian president elections of 2004 were
accompanied by mass political moves at Maydan Nezalezhnosty (Independent Square) initiated
by an oppositional presidential contender V.A.Yuschenko. More than 1 000 000 Ukrainians
took part in this action at one time. Some people lived in tents on the square more than
1000 hours. Political actions were in many cities and towns in Ukraine during December
2004 and January 2005. That events stimulated international interest to "Ukrainian
orange revolution". What is the psychological content of the political moves? Some
empirical investigation were organised by Ukrainian psychologist as independent projects
to research emotional states, values transformation, personal and groups reflection of the
political actions. Institute of social and political psychology studied process of
mobilisation and stress in Ukrainian society for several years. Analysis of psychological
phenomenon, which were before and during mass political action gives the explain of peace
character of the democratic Ukrainian revolution.
