History of the UAAS Institute for Potato Research
Institute for Potato Research (till 1992 – Ukrainian
Scientific Research Institute of Potato Economy) was founded in August 1968 on
the bases of Nemishaeve breeding and research station (organized in 1932) of
Ukrainian Research Institute for Crop-growing under jurisdiction of Southern
Department of All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences named after V.I.Lenin.
In 1990 the Institute was subordinated to the newly established Ukrainian
Academy of Agricultural Sciences (UAAS).
Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences exercises
scientific guidance and financing of the Institute.
Zone of the Institute’s activity is the territory of Ukraine.
Maine directions of scientific research are potato breeding,
seed production, technology of growing, storing and processing
as well as marketing.
Since 2004 a head of the Institute has been
a candidate of agriculture sciences Anatoliy A.Bondarchuk.
Themes of scientific research provide for development of new
potato varieties of high quality, improving potato seed production
system, technology of potato production and processing potatoes
into food products as well as problems of economy and marketing
of the crop for the fullest satisfaction of the consumers’
needs.
